Gerry's Bio

With great appreciation to my family and friends, I would like to announce my candidacy for Meade County Judge Executive. As our county continues to grow, we must elect a group of leaders who will work as a team to ensure success. I have demonstrated the qualities needed to lead our county in a direction that will secure the future of our children and grandchildren.
As County Judge Executive I will work to create a government that serves all the people of Meade County. I will be open to all ideas that will improve our county. I will also do my best to address each need and concern brought to my attention, by practicing an open door policy. When elected, I will work to lower taxes, end wasteful spending and invite new business. My strong leadership abilities and experience will help to ensure that our county remains a place we are proud to call home.
My experience includes serving the 27th District as an effective State Legislator and during that time I served with pride on three standing committees and the Governor’s BRAC Task Force. For more than 23 years I worked as a license general contractor before being appointed chief building inspector for the Regional Airport Authority. After completing the Kentucky Air National Guard project, I accepted a position as a contract civilian supporting the US Army Recruiting Command at Fort Knox. For the last two and half years, I have worked with the Corp of Engineers at Ft Knox, Building the Human Resource Center that will employee over 4,500 jobs for the local community.
The integrity that was instilled in me as an Eagle Scout and as a retiree of the Kentucky Army National Guard gave me the levelheadedness and perseverance needed to be a self made business man and the sole proprietor of Lynn’s Pins Bowling Center and former owner of Little Angels Learning Center. Currently, I now serve on the Industrial Authority Board and the Meade County Solid Waste Advisory Board. I am also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business and proud to be a life-long member of the National Rifle Association. I was the former president of Doe Valley Association and president of the Doe Valley Utility Company. I also previously served on The Task Force that updated Meade County’s Comprehensive Plan for the next 20 years.
I am fortunate and blessed to have the support and love of a wonderful family with my wife Nancye (Benham) and four daughters, Shania Harper, Stacy Ellis, Stephanie Goodlett and Sara Waters and ten precious grandchildren. My love for Meade County compels me to run for political office to ensure our Community is a better place to live, work, and raise our families.
I would like to personally ask each citizen of Meade County for your support and your Vote.
